Prof. RNDr. Radek ZBORIL, Ph.D

UP Olomouc, RCATM, Czech Republic, EU

Specialization: Nanomaterial research – iron and iron oxide based nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles, carbon nanostructures, magnetic nanoparticles: synthesis, characterization, applications in catalysis, water treatment, antimicrobial treatment, medicine and biotechnologies.

R. Zboril (38) received its Ph.D. degree in 2000, in 2006 he became an associate professor in Physical Chemistry and in 2010 a profesor. In the period 2005-2010 he works as the scientific director of the Centre of Research of Nanopowdered Materials. From 2010 he is the general director of the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials formed at the Palacky University Olomouc, Faculty of Science.  In 2010 he was appointed as a member of the board of Technology Agency of the Czech Republic.

He realized several foreign stays , e.g.- Institute of Materials Sciences, National Center for Scientific Research „Demokritos“, Athens, Greece (1998); Wits University, Johannesburg, JAR (1998); Company ThermoMicroscopes, the branch in Geneva (1999); Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Delaware, USA (2000); Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo (2000); Institute for Physical High Technology, Jena (2004). He is also active in several international projects, e.g. Decontamination of chemical warfare agents by environmentally-friendly oxidants iron(IV) and iron (VI), NATO grant (CBP.EAP.CLG 983119), the multilateral project coordinated by Florida Institute of Technology (USA). In the period 2008-2009 R. Zboril  participated  in more than 30 national projects with the total budget higher than 20 mil. EUR. He is author of several patents; contribution to development of the large-scale technology of production of zero-valent iron nanoparticles applicable in modern water treatment technologies (http://www.nanoiron.cz/en). He is the general chairmen of the international conference NANOCON.
